Street Art by Van Gogh in Paris, Spot 13.
I present to you a last artistic performance that I made in June 2022 at Spot 13 on a wall of 2 m x 3 m (approximately).
This is the portrait of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.
Why did I choose to paint Vincent Van Gogh?
It seemed obvious to me, Van Gogh is a painter who, through his post-impressionist/expressionist works, his life course and his personality have always inspired me since my artistic debut as a teenager.
Around the age of 13, during a trip to Provence in Arles, I studied art history, in particular the life of Vincent Van Gogh, with my art teacher.
His works immediately captured my attention and it was from there that I began to create Provencal landscapes myself by experimenting with gouache techniques and drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of the places and his works during my drawing lessons.
Later, as an adult, I discovered his hometown in Nuenen then visited Auvers sur Oise, my marine works and landscapes were imbued with these walks.
That's why, painting his portrait for the benefit of the Spot 13 association in the heart of Paris is, in my opinion, obvious and echoes my life course.
Accustomed to painting on canvas or paper since I was 10 years old, I do not hide from you that I had a lot of pressure and a fear of failure to paint on a wall.

However, life is made up of challenges to be overcome and taken up in order to emerge from it grown and enriched.
In the end, I really enjoyed working and adapting my artistic technique on this wall, I gained experience, confidence and I met caring people.
Portrait of Van Gogh: various street art techniques
In order to make the portrait of Vincent Van Gogh, I used new and various artistic techniques from street art to work easily on the wall of Spot 13, namely:
- hand stencil
- matte/gloss/semi-opaque high-pigment acrylic
- acrylic markers
- acrylic spray cans
A big thank you to the artist Joko and the Spot 13 team for their trust and support.
A first urban experience on a wall of this size that I intend to repeat with pleasure!!
